Programme Advertising and Sponsorship

We will be having a new match programme next season. We are looking for some new companies to place adverts in the programme. In addition we are looking to increase our advertising by the possibilty of using advertising around the ground and the use of our premises for sponsored matches and entertaing before games.

If you are interested or have any ideas you would like to discuss please email David Tate Junior on davidjamestate@gmail.com

Edwardian Night: Friday 9th November

OUR CLUB 'THE FELL' IS 100 YEARS OLD

Edward VII was King of England when the club was formed and there was a feeling of fun and frivolity after the dour years of Queen Victoria. To celebrate our centenary we chose an Edwardian theme reflected in the outfits chosen by many of the members who attended. This sell-out event began with a Kir Royale reception in the lounge followed by a delicious 5 course meal during which we were entertained by magicians Kendrick and Dillinger who visited each table. This was followed by soloists Bea Atkinson and Michael Geddes, who sang both traditional and local songs, accompanied by Michael Heaton on the piano. The comedian, Jake Roberts, chose just the right material and helped to continue our happy mood which left us wanting to get up and dance when the final act, Brian Hume of “Prelude” fame played and sang to us. Although this was an evening with entertainment we had not planned to dance but the happy and frivolous atmosphere got us all out of our seats. The Master of Ceremonies, Lee Hetherington conducted the evening in the style of an old time music hall and we finished the evening in the traditional way singing “down at the Old Bull and Bush” Congratulations to all who took part, all who supported this very successful venture and to the next 100 years of our Club.

A reproduction of the history of the 'Fell' will appear soon

BAR STAFF NEEDED

The Club needs weekend bar staff. Anyone interested please contact Billy the Steward at the Club.

The History of North Durham

Now on sale again after being reprinted is Tom Millen's book A history of North Durham RFC 1876-1998.

This book is a fascinating read to anyone interested in rugby, not just former club members, showing how world events and social changes have had an influence on our area and the people who live there.

The book is available behind the bar in the clubhouse and costs £10 with the proceeds going to the clubs junior sections.

If any online visitors can't get to the club then please email webadmin@gatesheadrfc.co.uk and we will sort something out.

HAPPY HOUR.

The club will now operate a Happy Hour on Mondays, 8pm till 11pm, until further notice. Come along and make some savings!

Recruits for Youth Section

A call goes out to potential youth players who would like to come and play at Gateshead. Under 14, 16 and 18 groups are currently playing (Years 9 up to 6th form at school). Training on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm till 8.30pm and matches on Sundays.

Similarly, anyone from the seniors who would like to invest a couple of hours a week helping out training or assist managing a team in the Youth Section, see the contact numbers in the relevant section on the website. Alternatively, post a message to us here on the site.

Coaching and/or refereeing the juniors can be immensely rewarding and gives a little back to the club to invest for our future.

If you have a story you would like added then please e-mail it to webadmin@gatesheadrfc.co.uk
